Kurita's Dropwise Condensation Technology
Energy Conservation Grand Prize


Kurita's Dropwise Condensation Technology is a patent pending technology to increase operating efficiency and conserve energy in industrial production facilities. This technology can be applied without apploying any additional system equipment. This technology is applied to the steam line in front of the target device creating a water repellent film on the surfaces.


Increasing the water repellency greatly improves heat transfer efficiency. The productivity of industrial processes increases significantly. At the same time the steam consumption is reduced leading to less fuel consumption and cutting down costs for water and energy. Kurita's Dropwise Condensation Technology is a sustainable technology leading to a reduction of carbon dioxide emission supporting the development of an eco-friendly society.

Remote monitoring services
Higher value-added systems for customers


Kurita defines IT sensing technology as the foundation of solutions provided to customers, and visualizes the water treatment status using its original system to provide services for the remote monitoring of customers' water treatment conditions. The purpose of these services is to monitor the water treatment conditions and effects of treatment on a real-time basis with customers at their sites, and to share information about water treatment issues that need to be addressed together so that Kurita can quickly implement more beneficial solutions to all the issues customers face.

Stable Operation of Water Treatment Facilities
Using IT to conduct stable operations


To date, Kurita has accumulated a huge amount of water quality data and water treatment facilities operation data and also constructed systems for remote monitoring of the customers' water treatment situation. We are now widely using new water treatment management systems based on the above, namely "S. sensingTM" and "the condition-based maintenance service for water treatment facilities".


We will realize more optimal and effective water treatment by monitoring on a real-time basis the water quality variation and the operation status of the facilities as well as the effect of water treatment using a variety of sensing technologies and sharing with customers the report obtained by automatic analysis.

We now have a proven track record of wastewater reclamation not only in Japan but also in various areas abroad where the needs for recycled use of water are significant.
